I.
Background:
Rotaract Club of Phnom Penh, initiated in 2000, is a voluntary club
of young men and women from 18 to 30 year old who come together to serve
the physical and social needs for their communities, widen their friendships
and professional contacts, and augment their understanding of the world.
It has 3 core programs: Service Project Development, Professional Development,
and Leadership Development. We have been providing free of charge English,
Morality, Culture, Environment and Origami lesson to poor children in
Koh Krobey village of Kandal province. In response to the need of environmental
cleaning among various students and organizations, Rotaract Club of
Phnom Penh organized a Environmental Cleaning at Basak River Bank and
Basak Garden on June 13, 2004 with the collaboration Norton University
and the support and permission from Phnom Penh Municipality.
II. Activity:
On Sunday June 13, 2004 Rotaractors and other students meeting together
at 8:00AM at campus's Norton University. Students and organizations
were divided into 2 big groups before they were campaign on the road.
During the campaign from Norton to Basak Bank and Basak Garden, there
were some tool to cleaning such as sacks, gloves, mass, banner and slogans.

At
8:45 the starting environmental cleaning campaign walks from road number
118 until road number 139. Student and other organization were divide
2 main group, one group clean on the road handle and basak garden. Other
group clean near river bank.

While
cleaning basak garden, road handle and near basak river is a mission
to propose population love environment and a opportunity for youth and
student come from various university in Cambodia to help society as
much as take care environment and increase friendship with youth and
students, students and youth like other organization. After cleaning
at Basak garden from road number 139 to Presh Orgkomlong, students participate
in campaign urgently, in addition all student enjoy this mission.

At
9:50 spending at 1 hour at Presh OngKomLong and carry on cleaning environment
straight to front Royal Palace and add Chak Tomouk conference.

At
11:00 Mr. So Sok Bunthet, he is a representation club
commission of Rotaract Club of Phnom Penh said that: this is a firstly
of my club to set up this campaign by three main goals: 1)
Propose idea's population love environment and take care, 2)
Provide opportunity for every students to help society 3)
Increasing friendship between youth and students, students and youth
as well as, in addition youth and students is a main post and develop
of the hold country. Caring Environmental is a main point for every
people in over the world must be care environment, according to the
slogan "Ruin environment is ruining self"
and "Good Environmental Good Health".

He
had a interested about this activities and it is an important for students
come to join together do this activities. He thought that when the people
saw this activities, they would be love, care and broadcasting these
activities to other people. In addition he said that if environment
had ruined, what’s happen for population in over the world? How does efficetive
of the earth? What're they doing?.
III. Conclusion:
Overall, this project have been received the success and to be pride
and no problem. It was a wonderful time together with students and Rotaractors
alike. Having achieved this type of project will contribute to the process
of achieving our vision of a “better community”.
Rotaract Club of Phnom Penh would like to express its genuine gratitude
to our donor, without whose support this project would not be possible.
